Slovene Rowers Successful in Preliminary Heats
Sydney, 17 September - Slovene rowers were successful in their first performances at the Sydney Olympics. Slovenia's top gold medal hopefuls Iztok Cop and Luka Spik won the preliminary heat in men's double scull and directly qualified in the Thursday's semi-finals. The same was achieved by the coxless four team (Janez Klemencic, Milan Jansa, Rok Kolander, and Matej Prelog), who were third in their preliminary group, behind the UK and Australia.
