Slovenia Supports Democratic Change in Serbia, Says Peterle

Ljubljana, 20 September - Due to potential misunderstandings regarding succession issues of the former Yugoslavia, Slovenia could not join the statement recently made by the EU member states' foreign ministers, which was directed to the people of Serbia prior to the forthcoming elections, Foreign Minister Lojze Peterle explained to the press on Wednesday. Following a motion of the Foreign Ministry, the Slovene government is expected to adopt a special statement aimed at expressing support for democratic changes in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY), at its session on Thursday.
