Two Years Since EC Recognition of Slovenia

Ljubljana, 12 January - SLOVENIA/RECOGNITION/ANNIVERSARY
Two years have passed since the Republic of Slovenia was jointly recognised as an independent and sovereign state by a number of European and other countries. Slovenia adopted the decision to pursue the course of independence on December 23, 1990, on the results of a plebiscite in which 88.5 percent of Slovenia's registered voters expressed themselves in favour of independence. The then Slovenian Assembly proclaimed the independence of Slovenia on June 25, 1992.
