Victims of Nazi Regime Receive first Compensation Payments

Ljubljana, 25 September - On the basis of an agreement with Slovenia and the Slovene Red Cross, Germany has remitted the first payment from the Hirsh Fund for victims of Nazi persecution. The Red Cross, which began paying out the money to 3,021 victims of Nazism in Slovenia on 18 September, is expected to finish the job in two months, the Slovene Ministry of Economic Relations and Develpment reported on Monday. Each rightful claimant will receive a compensation payment of DEM 1,000.
