Defence Committee Refuses To Support Proposal On Reduction Of Defence Tolar

At Thursday's session, which was partly held behind closed doors, the National Assembly Defence Committee rejected a proposal by deputy Borut Pahor (of the Associated List of Social Democrats) to reduce the defence budget. The budget will be ensured by the state through the Law on ensuring funds for the basic development programme of the defence forces of the Republic of Slovenia in the period from 1994 to 2001. In view of the difficult economic and social situation, Pahor proposed reducing the budget by one-third.
