Monument Erected to Baroque Painter
Mengeš, 4 October - A monument was unveiled on Wednesday evening to Slovene Baroque painter of frescoes Franc Jelovsek (1700-1764) in his native town of Menges, some 15 km northeast of Ljubljana. "Franc Jelovsek was a great man and Slovenia's most distinguished painter of frescoes," President of the Slovene Academy of Arts and Sciences (SAZU) France Bernik said about this most important Slovene Baroque painter at the cremony. The monument was unveiled by Prime Minister Andrej Bajuk.
