Substantial Headway Made in Full-Membership Talks
Ljubljana, 5 October - Slovenia and the EU discussed three chapters of legislation at Thursday's full-membership negotiations in Brussels, namely taxes, the free movement of goods and transport. While neither of the chapters has been closed, considerable headway has been made, particularly in fiscal legislation, an area in which the EU went along with Slovenia's request for a transitional period as well as with a permanent exception to the acquis in the part regulating the value added tax. This was told to STA by Slovenia's chief negotiator Janez Potocnik.
