Poverty Level Drops in 1997-98 Period

11.2 percent of all Slovene households are poor, showed an analysis of national surveys on household expenditures in the period between 1997 and 1998. The level of poverty dropped compared to that in 1993 when the first such analysis was carried out, revealing that 13.6 percent of households lived in poverty. The highest level of poverty was recorded with older people living on their own, and with elderly couples with no children, the National Statistical Office reported.
