Nine Years of Slovenia's Monetary Independence
Ljubljana, 8 October - Nine years to the day, Slovenia declared monetary independence and introduced the tolar as the official currency. The nine-year period showed that the tolar is gaining confidence in Slovenia as well as abroad. According to Governor of the Bank of Slovenia France Arhar, the central bank is generally content with what has been achieved in the last nine years despite all the changes, such as privatisation, the bank reforms, as well as changes in the rest of the world, especially the lessened restrictions in the flow of capital.
