Dates on EU Enlargement to be Set Under Swedish EU Presidency, Says Potocnik
Stockholm, 10 October - Sweden favours early enlargement of the European Union, which should start in 2003, therefore the process is among the priority tasks of the Swedish presidency over the EU in the first half of next year, chief Slovene negotiator with the EU Janez Potocnik was told by Lars Danielsson, the European affairs adviser in the office of the Swedish Prime Minister Goran Persson. Sweden wishes to close its EU presidency with the adoption of a timetable for EU enlargement which will include dates, Danielsson told Potocnik, who is visiting Sweden as part of his tour in the EU member states, which will end at the end of the week with a visit to Finland.
