Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 7 to 13 October
Ljubljana, 14 October - In the last week before the general elections the parliamentary parties attempted to put in the last word and persuade the electorate to vote for them. On the side of the election race - the dismissal of Stojan Grilj from the post of the director of the National Tax Administration a week ago led to Finance Minister Zvonko Ivanusic's decision to strip State Secretary Romana Logar of her powers and culminated in Prime Minister Andrej Bajuk filing a proposal for Ivanusic's dismissal in parliament. As for foreign policy, Slovenia continued its path to establishing relations with Yugoslavia, as a special Slovene government envoy, Foreign Ministry State Secretary Mitja Drobnic paid a visit to Belgrade, where he met with Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica.
