Weekly Review of Slovene Economy from 7 through 13 October
Ljubljana, 15 October - The National Tax Administration (DURS) has been in the limelight since 6 October when the government decided to dismiss its director, Stojan Grilj. On Tuesday Grilj received the government dismissal order, while Finance Minister Zvonko Ivanusic kept saying he did not propose Grilj's dismissal. The conflict reached its peak on Friday when Prime Minister Andrej Bajuk sent to the parliament a proposal to dismiss the finance minister. A day after the bill on national home saving scheme took effect the Bank of Slovenia demanded the law be amended. According to the bank's governor, France Arhar, the law violates some basic banking principles.
