Court Hearing in Zavrc Case Resumes, Two Slovene Defendants Fail to Appear in Court
Varaždin, 24 October - Two Slovene citizens accused of spying on the Croatian territory did not appear in the court of Varazdin, northwestern Croatia, on Tuesday, to attend the second hearing in the case. As the defendants, Anton Slatinsek and Branko Brezovsek, who were intercepted by Croatian police near the town of Zavrc (eastern part Slovene-Croatian border) on 6 January 1998, were absent, the hearing could not take place and judge Igor Pavlic demanded that they be tried in absentia.
