New MPs Convene for Maiden Session

Ljubljana, 27 October - Twelve days after this year's general elections newly-elected MPs convened for a maiden session on Friday. The session began with an address delivered by President of Slovenia Milan Kucan, who stressed that a great deal is expected from the new parliament. The session sis chaired by the eldest MP, Jozef Bernik of New Slovenia (NSi), who is to chair parliamentary sessions until a speaker is elected. 88 out of a total of 90 MPs are present.
