Foreign Minister Peterle Welcomes Yugoslavia's Request for UN Membership
Ljubljana, 28 October - Foreign Minister Lojze Peterle told a commercial television station that Yugoslavia's request for membership in the UN is undoubtedly in the interest of Slovenia and in harmony with what the Slovene diplomacy has discussed with its partners in Belgrade. Peterle told POP TV that Ljubljana expects that the Yugoslav request will be dealt with in a few days. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Slovenia will support the resolution of Yugoslav acceptance into the UN by the same process that was applied to the other four successors of the former Yugoslavia.
