For Honesty and Legitimacy

"The desire for wealth and power has overcome many, but what is worse is that people have become infected by the conviction that the state and political bodies cannot and will not guarantee honesty, and that subsequently, honesty does not pay...This poses a serious threat to democracy, which is based on common, fundamental moral values," states a declaration issued Monday by the Committee for Justice and Peace at the Slovenian Conference of Bishops, signed by the chairman of the Committee, Dr Anton Stres.
