A Great Part of Privatisation Still Awaits Slovenia
Ljubljana, 5 November - Slovenia should secure an effective market economy, moderate economic growth and a stable macro-economic environment so that the Slovene economy will be able to deal with competitive pressures of the EU internal market. In principle, the country is successful, something proven by the increase in the level of economic growth in 1999 and in the first months of 2000. Moreover, the economic stability has strengthened and the construction of a legal framework to enable efficient market economy has been accelerated as well. Slovenia has also carried out most of the necessary structural and institutional reforms, but remains to carry out the consolidation and privatisation of banks and insurance companies, and conclude liberalisation, the regularisation and privatisation of public economic service sector.
