Slovene Managers and Economists Comment on European Commission Progress Report
Ljubljana, 9 November - The Slovene Press Agency has asked several leading managers and economists to voice their opinions on a report which was drafted by the European Commission on Slovenia's progress towards full EU membership. While the overall economic situation in Slovenia has received a relatively positive mark, the Commission directed the greatest share of the criticism towards the economy. Brussels has once again pointed out that Slovenia has been carrying out its structural reforms too slowly, while banks and insurance companies have not yet been privatised. Moreover, slow privatisation, togehter with restrictions on the free movement of capital has resulted in low foreign investment, the Commission said.
