Safety at Slovene Nuclear Plant Comparable to that in the West, Says WENRA Report
Brussels, 10 November - Safety at the Krsko Nuclear Power Plant (NEK), Slovenia's only nuclear plant, is comparable to safety levels found at Western European nuclear power plants, it was written in an annual report on nuclear safety in EU candidate countries prepared by the Western European Nuclear Regulators' Association (WENRA). In its report, WENRA recommends that Slovenia should finish the study on earthquake safety at the plant and resolve the issue of the plant's ownership, as this could threaten the plant's financial situation which could in turn affect safety.
