Brussels to Launch a New Round of Membership Negotiations on Tuesday
Ljubljana, 13 November - The European Union will meet with representatives of Slovenia and other candidate countries in Brussels on Tuesday to launch a new round of membership negotiations, this time on the freedom to provide services, environment, and external relations and development aid. According to Slovenia's chief negotiator Janez Potocnik, the two sides are expected to conclude the negotiations over the freedom to provide services in the fresh round of talks under the French presidency and the EU is to grant Slovenia a second transitional period within the mentioned chapter. The EU and the candidate countries will thus have closed 13 out of 29 chapters of the acquis under negotiation.
