Van der Linden Visits Maribor, Discusses Closure of Duty-Free Shops with Local Officials
Maribor, 15 November - The European Commission understands social problems which might result from the closure or transformation of duty-free shops in the city of Maribor and in other Slovene cities in border regions alright, but Slovenia has pledged to close them, said the head of the European Commission delegation to Slovenia Eric van der Linden during his Wednesday's working visit to Slovenia's second largest city. Van der Linden stressed that the failure to meet the commitment could well have negative consequences for Slovenia in other areas of the country's EU accession process.
