Anniversary of Slovene Alpine Climbing
Ljubljana, 22 November - It has been fourty years since the beginnings of Slovene Alpine climbing story in the Himalaya. In spite of the fact that it started rather late, the Slovenes have become one of the leading nations in Alpine climbing. The story began in 1960 when a Slovene expedition consisting of seven members set out for the Himalaya. The expedition reached Trisul II ( 6690m) and Trisul III ( 6170m). In 1975 the Slovene Alpine climbers reached their first mountain higher than 8000 m and in 1995 they managed to "conquer" the last one.
