Candidate for Minister of European Affairs Approved
Ljubljana, 27 November - The parliamentary committee for foreign policy on Monday gave a green light to the candidate for the post of the minister without portfolio for European affairs, Igor Bavcar, who was approved by 17 MPs, whereas the MP of the opposition Social Democrats voted against. In his presentation Bavcar said that the prime concern of his mandate would be the closure of accession negotiations with the EU by the end of 2001, and the conclusion of internal preparations for membership by the end of 2002, which is foreseen by the national programme for the implementation of the acquis.
