BSE Prevention Measures Take Effect
Ljubljana, 2 December - As of Saturday Slovene abattoirs are obliged to implement a government decree under which the central nervous system and lymphatic tissue of cattle, pigs, sheep and goats have to be removed and discarded after the animal is slaughtered. In addition a ban has taken effect on the import and use of bone meal in fodder, while imports of live cattle and beef products are banned from all countries where BSE has been detected with home-born animals.
