Slovenia Marks 200th Birthday of Its Greatest Poet
Ljubljana, 3 December - Solemn celebrations to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of Slovenia's greatest poet, France Preseren, are taking place around the country on Sunday, including in Preseren's birth-town of Vrba and his hometown of Kranj. They will culminate in the central commemoration in Ljubljana's arts and conference centre, Cankarjev Dom, this evening. As part of the anniversary, Sunday is also the Open Day of Slovene Culture, with the doors of all libraries, museums, galleries, cultural centres and theatres being open to visitors.
