Ljubljana, 5 December - When an epidemic of mad cow disease broke out in Great Britain and gradually assumed cataclysmic dimensions and reached the Continent, the EU ordered a slaughter of infected cattle instead of considering the causes of the catastrophe, over which cattle breeders, abattoirs and the meat-processing industry were lamenting most severely, while consumers were not even asked about their opinion, Delo writes on Tuesday, a day after the EU agriculture ministers took some measures to combat the BSE epidemic.
