Slovenia and Candidate Countries Call on NATO to Issue Membership Invitations in 2002
Brussels, 15 December - Slovenia and other eight NATO candidate countries in a joint statement on Friday hailed the alliance's intention to continue the enlargement process, and called upon NATO to issue new membership invitations at its next summit, which will take place in Prague in 2002. The statement was drafted by foreign ministers of the nine aspiring countries, including Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, ahead of the ministerial meeting of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) in Brussels.
