Ban on Leaded Petrol Sales to Take Effect Next Year
Ljubljana, 22 December - Next year Slovenia will join the majority of EU member states which have already banned sales of leaded petrol. Slovenia will implement the ban as of 30 June 2001, while suppliers will only be able to sell stocks of leaded petrol as of 1 January 2001. The ban will affect chiefly those who drive cars older than ten years and have so far used leaded petrol as they will be forced to use unleaded petrol with additives, the Ministry of the Environment and Physical Planning said.
