President Kucan Grants Amnesty to Five Persons

Ljubljana, 22 December - President Milan Kucan signed a decree on Friday, granting amnesty to five condemned persons on the occasion of Slovenia's Independence Day on 26 December. He thereby reduced a 20-year prison sentence of a 47-year-old man by five years and a 7-year prison sentence of a 41-year-old woman by 1 year. An 18-month prison sentence of a 25-year-old man was reduced by four months and a 4-year prison sentence of a 27-year-old woman by three months.
