SAZU Calls for Tolerance Towards Foreigners

Ljubljana, 5 February - The question of illegal migration is not an easy one, neither for Europe nor for Slovenia. Slovenia cannot avoid the migration of people, which has become one of the greatest challenges of our time. Our freedom and democracy depend on the response to this challenge. We should not respond to the issue of illegal migration with the feeling of being threatened, which is a sign of xenophobia. The limits of tolerance towards the other party are the limits of our freedom, was written by members of the Research Centre of the Slovene Academy of Arts and Sciences (SAZU) in a public call for a more responsible policy towards illegal immigrants and asylum-seekers.
