Government Discusses Crisis Management Centre, Takes Anti-BSE Measure

Ljubljana, 7 February - An order to subsidize the storing of beef was adopted by the government on Wednesday as a follow-up to two measures taken recently to normalize the situation in the meat market and to make sure mad cow disease does not hit Slovenia. The order came after the Ministry of Agriculture established that meat of a total of 3000 cattle will have to be stored after the sell of beef has falled due to the fear of BSE. The cost of storing will be SIT 113.4 million (EUR 530.500). The amount of subsidies is in line with a similar EU decree.
