Travel-Generated Foreign Exchange Inflow Up in 2000
Ljubljana, 11 February - Foreign exchange inflow from tourism amounted to US$ 897.6 million in the first eleven months of last year, a rise of 13.8 percent over the same period in 1999 and a rise of 2.4 percent over the comparable period in 1998. In the same period Slovenes spent US$ 491.6 million on travel abroad, a rise of 4.3 percent over 1999 and a rise of 15.5 percent over 1998. Travel-generated foreign exchange surplus totaled US$ 406 million and was by 24 percent higher than that in 1999 by 7.1 percent lower than that in 1998, the Office for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development states in the latest issue of its publication.
