It Is a Great Day for Trieste, Fassino Says in Response to Adoption of Minority Law

Trieste, 15 February - The deliverance of this 53-year old constitutional pledge was one of the Italian government's priorities that could not be deferred, but also an honourable task, a senior Italian official told Thursday's edition of Primorski dnevnik in response to yesterday's Senate approval of the Slovene minority protection law. "This is also because the legally unregulated status of the Slovene minority represented a constant inconvenience for politics and democracy of Trieste and the province," added Justice Minister Piero Fassino, one of those Italian officials who helped draft the law.
