Vecer Comments on Controversial Appointment of Public Radio and TV Managing Director

Maribor, 21 February - The announcement made by the journalists' trade union not to go along with the appointment of Janez Cadez to the post of managing director of the public radio and television network is equal to the crisis which erupted in the Czech Republic last December, the only difference being in the institution which the journalists in each country appealed to. While the director of the Czech TV was appointed by a TV council dominated by political parties, the director of Slovenia's public radio and TV has to be given the green light in parliament after being approved by the radio and TV council, a Slovene daily says on Wednesday.
