Slovene Painter Recipient of Herder Award

Ljubljana, 23 February - Painter and academcian Janez Bernik, a member of the Slovene Academy of Arts and Sciences (SAZU), is a recepient of a prestigious award conffered since 1963 by the University of Vienna. Bernik will be presented the 2000 Herder Award at a ceremony in the Austrian capital of Vienna on 9 May. The other two recepients are Hungarian and Czech writers Imre Kertesz and Milan Kundera, respectively, a SAZU official told STA.
