Unemployment Rate Down Compared to Last Year
Ljubljana, 23 February - The number of unemployed in Slovenia stood at 106,153 in January, a drop of 8.7 percent over January 2000. As unemployment rates usually increase in January as a consequence of terminations of fixed-term employment at the end of December, the number of jobless persons in January increased by 9855 or 2.8 percent compared to December, the National Employment Office reported at Friday's news conference.
