Italian and Slovene Transport Ministers Deliver Boost to Fifth Pan-European Corridor

Ljubljana, 23 February - Minister for Transport Jakob Presecnik and his Italian counterpart Pier Luigi Bersani on Friday signed an agreement which sets down the approximate course of the proposed high capacity and high speed railway line Venice-Trieste-Ljubljana and its construction by the year 2015. The competent sectors at the two ministries of transport managed to prepare a compromise proposal in one month which sets down the connection of the Ljubljana and Trieste line to the middle of the second line between Koper and Divaca. The breakthrough comes following six years of differing views on the course of the rail-link between Slovenia and Italy.
