New Ombudsman to Better Use Media to Fight His Cause

Ljubljana, 24 February - New Ombudsman Matjaz Hanzek told the daily Dnevnik on Saturday that he will use the media's assistance in warning of human rights infringements. Hanzek announced that he will hold a press conference every fourteen days and inform the public of possible problems. He also explained his statement following his election to the post about the ombudsman's need to be a "pain" with the fact that an ombudsman is not an official who sits and receives forms, then sorts them and sends them around.
