Slovenia Bans Import of Hoofed Animals from Britain

Ljubljana, 26 February - Imediately after the first reports came in on the occurrence of the foot-and-mouth disease in Great Britain, Slovenia issued a ban on 21 February on the import of all hoofed animals from Britain, as pigs as well as cattle, sheep and goats can contract the disease. "The danger of the disease spreading to Slovenia is virtually non-existent," director of the Veterinary Administration Zoran Kovac told STA.
