Gaspari Appointed New Central Bank Governor
Ljubljana, 27 March - Mitja Gaspari has been appointed a new governor of the Bank of Slovenia in a 53:14 vote, with 14 MPs abstaining. Appointed for a six-year period, Gaspari will assume office on 1 April 2001, replacing France Arhar, who has headed the central bank for 10 years. Arhar's term expires on 31 March.
