Ljubljana, 1 April - Former Finance Minister Mitja Gaspari was last week elected the new central bank governor by parliament, an was to assume the office on 1 April. An initiative was filed by an interest group of investors into the Slovene public telephone network who claimed that the new act, which is currently in parliament for swift procedure, should have a provision on the refund of investments in the public telephone network in the past to individuals and local communities. The initiative, however, was withdrawn at the end of the week, after the parliament concluded the second reading of the bill, introducing an additional provision which sets down that individual investors and local communities will be returned their investment in the network.
