Less Than 2 Million People in Slovenia in 2000
Ljubljana, 10 April - A total of 1,990,094 people lived in Slovenia in 2000, of which there were 973,000 men and 1.017 million women. The total number of inhabitants thus increased by 2,339 in 2000. The number of Slovene citizens living in Slovenia and the number of foreigners increased by 2,584 and 1,284, respectively, while the number of persons seeking temporary refuge decreased by 1,529, the National Statistical Office reports.
