Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 5 to 11 May

Ljubljana, 12 May - Slovenia was last week extremely active in foreign policy. Premier Drnovsek attended a meeting of prime ministers of the NATO candidate countries in Bratislava. President Kucan left for the United States on Friday, Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel was in Sweden, where he attended a meeting of the EU foreign ministers with their counterparts from the candidate countries, in Hungary and in Jordan. In Ljubljana Rupel met with the head of Polish diplomacy. A series of events throughout Slovenia marked the Day of Europe. In regard to the home affairs it is worth mentioning that the SLS+SKD finally decided to stay in the government coalition. Last Sunday was happy for somebody from Nova Gorica who won EUR 773,000 in lottery, the largest sum ever recorded in Slovenia.
