If Referendum on Infertility Treatment Fails, Women's Rights Will Be Affected, Says PM
Ljubljana, 25 May - Women's rights are on a relatively high level in Slovenia, with equality of the sexes ensured by the Slovene constitution, the right to freely decide on birth of children and also with legal recognition of unmarried couples, published PM Janez Drnovsek on his web page on Friday. He added that the changes to the infertility treatment act only restore the already existing right of women, therefore the act's failure at the referendum would be a step backwards in democratic values and a distancing from the principle that all women are equal regardless of their marital status.
