Government Gives a Green Light to NLB and NKBM Privatisation Programmes

Ljubljana, 31 May - The goverment on Thursday gave a green light to the programmes of privatisation of the two state-owned banks, Nova Ljubljanska banka (NLB) and Nova Kreditna banka Maribor (NKBM). According to the NLB privatisation programme, the state is to reduce its 83-percent ownership share to 25 percent plus one share by the end of March 2002, when the first stage of privatisation is to conclude. The ownership share in NKBM, which stands at 90-percent, is also to reduce to 25 percent plus one share by the end of this year, said Finance Minister Tone Rop at a news conference after the government session.
