Finance Development Centre to Improve Financial Situation in SE Europe
Bled, 1 June - Slovenia gave the initiative to establish a Finance Development Centre in a bid to help Albania and the countries of former Yugoslavia to improve the level of the conditions in their public finances, said Slovene Finance Minister Tone Rop at a presentation of the Ljubljana-based centre, which is to carry out training in public finances for ministry and central bank officials from the region, at Slovenia's Bled on Friday. Slovenia's initiative, which has been carried out within the framework of the Stability Pact for SE Europe, was endorsed by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Bank for Renovation and Development (EBRD). Both organisations were represented at the Bled meeting of finance ministers from the former Yugoslavia and Albania.
