The European Commission Pleased with Slovenia's Progress in EU Accession Negotiations
Brdo pri Kranju, 7 June - European Commission President Romano Prodi, who on Thursday arrived for his first official visit to Slovenia, hailed the country's progress in the EU accession negotiations and expressed an expectation that Slovenia would officially become an EU member in 2004. The statement was made after a meeting with Slovene Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek at Brdo Castle, some 30 kilometres northwest of Ljubljana.
