Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 2 to 8 June
Ljubljana, 9 June - President of the European Commission Romano Prodi and Enlargement Commissioner Guenter Verheugen visited Slovenia at the end of the week, while talks on the EU also dominated the visit of Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Guterres to Slovenia and the meeting of foreign ministers of the Central European countries in Vienna. Meanwhile, Ireland rejected the ratification of the Nice Treaty at a referendum, something Ljubljana accepted with concern. Slovenia nevertheless expects EU to manage to solve the situation. Slovene President Milan Kucan paid an official visit to Greece last week, while Defence Minister Anton Grizold attended a session of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council, which associates NATO member states and its partner countries.
