Festival of Resistance: Two Officials Cannot Discuss the Destiny of the World
Ljubljana, 11 June - "The destiny of the world cannot be discussed merely by two persons, and human rights cannot be subject to referendums," will be the message of what was termed a Festival of Resistance, a manifestation scheduled to take place in Ljubljana on the day of the Russian-U.S. summit. The manifestation will in fact be a culmination of a month of civil disobedience to which Slovene citizens were urged by the Office for Interventions (UZI), a small group of activists associating organisations and individuals, soon after the news was broken that the the U.S. and Russian Presidents, George W. Bush and Vladimir Putin, would meet in Slovenia.
