Koper, 21 June - Within the next few days it should be clear which bank would purchase a majority stake in Banka Koper, Slovenia's fourth largest bank. Three banks are said to be interested in the stake, namely Slovenia's largest bank, Nova Ljubljanska banka, and Italy's Banca Antonveneta and SanPaolo IMI. According to media reports, SanPaolo IMI is the most serious candidate for taking over the leading financial institution in the southwest of Slovenia. Banka Koper's three major owners, the Port of Koper, the shipping company Intereuropa and the oil company Istrabenz have confirmed the news that the name of the buyer is to be revealed within a few days.
